A CAMPAIGN has been launched to improve Brentwood Station.

Conservative councillors Will Russell, Jan Pound and Cheralyn Beeston want the area to be become more attractive and promote neighbouring businesses.

Contact has already been made with station bosses and Brentwood Council’s Neighbourhood Action Team and ideas include keeping the area tidy, freshening up rusty railings and promoting nearby shops.

Mr Russell, who runs Vega Hairdressing in Kings Road, believes the area should “stand out”.

He said: “All the gateways into Brentwood need to be inviting.

“I have been working with traders along Kings Road and Warley Hill for years now and we have done a lot to promote ourselves and it is important to raise the profiles of businesses.

“We want to hear what residents, commuters and businesses have to say as they are best placed to says what is in need for sprucing up in the area.”

Residents have already been speaking with the councillors over what improvements they would like around the station.

Paul Faragher, who lives in Warley Hill and regularly uses the station, said there are a few things he would like to see brought in.

Mr Faragher said: “It would be great to see some banners up like those in the High Street or some new street furniture, notice boards or bins to make the area look better.”
