A HORSE sanctuary in Ingatestone has added the Countess of Wessex to their list of patrons.

Having visited Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary in July as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations, the Royal has accepted an invitation from the centre to become a patron for them.

Sue Burton, manager and found of the sanctuary, which also cares for animals like sheep, cow and cats, said: "It was fantastic for our volunteers and members who have worked so hard over the last 30 years to get the Sanctuary to where it is today, to be recognised for their sterling work and efforts.

"The Countess of Wessex is a very warm lady and genuinely interested in our work and the welfare of the animals."
