HELICOPTERS from Essex Police and Air Sea rescue were called in by firefighters after a car became stuck in flood water.
Fire crews were called out to Buttsbury Wash, in Mountnessing Road, Ingatestone, at about 10.45am on Tuesday after receiving reports of a man being trapped in a car stuck in flood water.
Due to other local flooding caused by Monday's stormy weather, firefighters were unable to reach the area leading to a call for assistance from the helicopters.
Roads surrounding the scene are said to have five foot of water on them, making them difficult to drive through.
A rescue boat from Leigh fire station was used to bring the male driver back to dry land just before 12noon.
