HEAVY rainfall overnight and this morning has led to problems on roads around Brentwood.
Rush hour commuters have been delayed around the town as some roads become virtually unpassable due to flood waters.
Weald Park Way in South Weald was one of the roads flooded while a burst water drain in Myrtle Road near Brentwood train station has also caused localised flooding.
A flood warning has also been issued by the Environment Agency for the River Wid between Ingatestone and Writtle.
Emergency service officials have warned drivers to stay cautious when attempting to drive through flood waters.
An Essex Police spokesperson said: "Drivers should slow down and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
"When driving through flood water choose a low gear and do not attempt it if the water is fast flowing or too deep.
"Driving too fast, even in relatively shallow water can cause water to be ingested into the engine.
"Also test your brakes after leaving the water."
