A SCHOOL led by a well-known head has been rated as good by an education watchdog.

Brentwood County High School was handed the second highest mark by Ofsted following their two day visit in Seven Arches Road earlier this month.

This improves on the previous reports in 2006, 2009 and 2011 which rated the school as satisfactory.

Inspectors pointed at students’ progress accelerating since their last visit, rapid improvement in teaching standards and better exam results as reasons for the good grading.

Headteacher Stephen Drew, who rose to fame in Channel 4's Educating Essex show, said the whole school is “delighted” with the report.
