TALES and songs revolving around the gumption provided by women during both World Wars will be performed by a amateur opera group next month.

The Ingatestone Musical and Operetta Group are hosting their show Keep The Home Fires Burning at the Community Centre Theatre, in High Street, Ingatestone.

Between Thursday, April 3, and Saturday, April 5, the group will look back through stories of women who while their male friends, husbands and brothers went into battle jumped into the jobs they left behind.

Real accounts from females who took up positions in occupations like factory work and firefighters during both the First and Second World War will be used to reflect on their efforts.

Alongside the stories, popular war time hits like White Cliffs of Dover, Pack up your Troubles and Underneath the Arches will be sung by group members.

The production has been arranged by the performers to mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

Shows will start each evening at 7.45pm while a special matinee has also been organised beginning at 2.30pm on the final day.

Tickets for the evening shows cost £12 per person while the matinee charges are £12 for adults, £10 senior citizens and £5 for children aged under 12.

To book a seat, visit the Four Vintners on Ingatestone High Street or call 01277 295682 or 01277 226726.
