A FIRE broke out on a lorry carrying a load of wine and spirits as it travelled along the M25.
Flames engulfed the cab of the lorry after it pulled over on the clockwise carriageway bridge that crosses the M25 J29.
Passing motorists reported that they could feel the heat from the blaze, which broke out shortly after 9pm.
Police slowed traffic as it approached the lorry and diverted traffic off and on the motorway while firefighters put out the fire.
They spent half an hour putting out the flames, some licking a height of around 15 foot.
The fire was out by 10pm.
