A CROOK posed as a gardener in order to trick an elderly man before stealing money from his wallet.

The male knocked on the front door of the victim's home in Crescent Road, Warley, at about 9am on Tuesday March 25.

He told the man in his 80s he had come to do some gardening work which led to the homeowner letting him in the house.

The trickster then took a small amount of cash from the elderly man's wallet before leaving.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his 30s, of medium build and wearing black clothing.

Anyone with information is urged to call Dc Pat Snape at Brentwood CID on 101 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
