ONE of the UK’s best-loved Neil Diamond tributes is appearing at the Brentwood Theatre.
Bob Drury, described as the UK’s “voice of Neil”, will be at the Shenfield Road theatre on Friday, May 2 as part of a 40-stop nationwide theatre tour.
He will be performing some of the American singer-songwriters most iconic songs from a hit filled musical career such as Cracklin’ Rosie, Sweet Caroline, Love on The Rocks, America, Brother Love’s Travelling Salvation Show, Play Me and Girl You’ll be a Woman Soon alongside much loved album tracks and more recent acoustic material.
Bob himself began playing the guitar in his early teens and soon got involved in a busy band scene in the Midlands. Having played semi-professionally for a number of years in various Rock and Pop bands he decided, in his late twenties, to take up formal study of the guitar.
His one-man show The Neil Diamond Story, forms an integral part of his current work. The performance his accompanied by voice-overs and subtle video sequences which aid in Bob’s portrayal of Neil’s remarkable story.
Bob said: “I’ve been working with Neil Diamond’s songs for about eight years now and have had a great time presenting his amazing music to audiences all over the UK and overseas.
“This show is my chance to dig a little deeper into the Neil Diamond song catalogue and include some of the fans’ favourites that wouldn’t find a place in a regular tribute night.”
Tickets for the show, which opens with a homage to Neil’s famous 1972 “Hot August Nights”, are £12.
