A WOMAN who tragically died after hit by a train at Shenfield station on Saturday has been confirmed as being a 43-year-old from Brentwood.
British Transport Police officers were called out to the station at about 8.25pm after receiving reports of a female being struck by a train.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the casualty was pronounced dead at the scene.
A BTP spokesman said: "The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
"The woman’s family have been informed."
An inquest is due to be opened into the death later this week.
