AN 18TH Century mansion will be opened up to the public in July for a garden and art event.

Kelvedon Hall, in Kelvedon Hall Lane, will host the open garden and art exhibition on Saturday July 12 and Sunday July 13.

The gardens are normally closed to the public so this will be a rare opportunity to walk around the estate.

Art displays will also be in the main building along with market stalls and a history exhibition and talks about the house.

Entry costs £6 for adults on the day or £5 if bought in advance, with children accompanied by an adult being allowed to go in for free.

Proceeds will be donated to St Nicholas’ Church in Kelvedon Hatch, St Francis Hospice, the Neo Natal Unit at Broomfield Hospital and Special Needs And Parents Brentwood.

Doors will be open from 10.30am to 5pm on both days with the last entry being admitted at 4pm.
