FOUR roads in Pilgrims Hatch have had their street lights turned back on following a request from Essex Police.

Residents in Crow Green Lane, Crow Green Road, Hatch Road and Catherine Close will be fully lit until Monday, May 26, following burglaries in at least 17 homes in the area last month.

The light switch on was ordered by Acting Inspector Scott Kingsnorth to reassure the public.

Roads across the county have been plunged into darkness between midnight and 5am following a County Council scheme decision despite protests from residents around Essex.

Police have said there is no link to prove burglary is in the up following the light switch off, and as a whole there hasn’t been a notable increase in crime.
