Classic cars, strawberries and cream and lots of sunshine – Brentwood’s annual Strawberry Fair was a raging success once again.
More than 6,000 visitors – the events biggest ever crowd – crammed onto Shenfield Common last Saturday to be entertained by the likes of Funky Voices, Essex Dance Theatre and the Brentwood Shakespeare Company.
True to British spirit and in the run up to Wimbledon, which started this week, strawberries and cream were provided by Diddinghurst Road Church, and local beers and ciders were made available by the Brentwood Brewing Company.
Councillor Karen Chilvers, chair of the community committee, said “We have had some lovely messages from the stallholders who said there was a real sense of community spirit.
“Visitors enjoyed the local strawberries, which were a sell out, and there was some fantastic entertainment. It really was a celebration of the British summer!”
