THREE people, including a heavily pregnant woman, have admitted faking a road crash in East Horndon to claim compensation.

Rajwinder Kaur, 29, of St Nicholas Road, south east London, Manjinder Kaur Randhawa, 37, and Paramjit Singh, 46, both of Brookdene Road, south east London admitted fraud by false representation when they appeared at Basildon Crown Court on Monday.

Shahzada Fahad, 27, whose address was given as Standford Hill Prison, Kent, denied the charge.

The group, who needed a Punjabi interpreter, are alleged to have staged the road crash on Tilbury Road, East Horndon, on October 4, 2013.

They are then alleged to have made claims to insurance companies for injuries sustained in the fake crash.

The Crown Prosecution Service is yet to make a decision about whether it will take its case against Fahad to trial.

His case was adjourned for two weeks and he was remanded in prison until then.

Judge Ian Graham ordered the probation service to carry out pre-sentence reports on Kaur, Randhawa and Singh.

Randhawa is due to give birth to her fourth child at the beginning of October.

The trio will be sentenced at Basildon Crown Court on December 1.
