AN investigation has been launched after reports a woman was raped in the early hours of this morning.

The attack is believed to have happened at around 1am this morning, Sunday, September 28, in the Coptfold Road and South Street of Brentwood.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, is being supported by specially trained officers.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen her or the suspect to contact them.

The woman is described as white, with black hair and wearing a white top and jeans. She may not have been wearing any shoes.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his mid 20s, 5ft 6ins tall, of stocky build, with short dark hair. He was wearing a grey top and jeans.

A police cordon has been established at the scene and extensive enquiries are being carried out.
