Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Brentwood have made an arrest.
An 18-year-old man was arrested at a flat in High Street, Brentwood, at around 5.15pm this afternoon, Sunday, September 28, on suspicion of murder.
A post-mortem examination carried out today on the body of the man who died near the junction of Tower Hill and Sir Francis Way on Saturday evening found the provisional cause of death to be from a stab wound to the heart. The examination also found four other stab wounds on the body.
Police officers have now been able to find the man’s next of kin and will be supporting them while the murder investigation continues.
Most of the police cordons in the area have now been lifted but the alleyway in Tower Hill will remain closed overnight.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the murder to contact them on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
