POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man from Brentwood was killed on the A12.

The collision, between a car and a pedestrian, occurred on the London bound side of the A12 on Sunday November 9.

Officers were called shortly after 11pm to the scene approximately one mile from the M25 Brook Street roundabout following reports that a silver BMW 5 series was in collision with a pedestrian who was believed to be walking along the road.

Inspector Scott Egerton, of Essex Police Roads Policing Team, said: "Tragically the pedestrian, a man in his 30s from the Brentwood area, died at the scene.

"The southbound A12 was closed for five hours to allow for a forensic examination by the police and road repairs by the Highways Agency.

"We are now trying to piece together the full circumstances of what happened and establish why the man was there.

"If anyone saw what happened or the man prior to the collision I would ask them to call us."

He added that man's next of kin and the coroner's office had been informed and that no-one else was injured.

Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who can help with any information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on Essex Police 101 or email collisonappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk.
