A MAN has been jailed for the part he played in an aggravated burglary which saw two men arm themselves with an axe, pepper spray and gaffer tape.
Chelmsford Crown Court heard how Charlie Chant, 23, of Woolmongers Lane, Ingatestone, was one of two men who confronted Matthew Gould in his Braintree home in February.
Mr Gould had just walked into his sitting room when one of the men came rushing towards him throwing punches.
Mr Gould fell down and saw another man but they both ran off when his father appeared on the scene.
Chant was told by the judge he played a lesser role, but it was still a very serious matter.
Chant admitted a charge of aggravated burglary and was jailed for nine months.
The incident stemmed from a dispute between Mr Gould and the other man who has not been traced, the court heard.
