A POLICE car flipped onto its roof late last night after the driver reportedly fell ill at the wheel.
The incident happened at about 11.15pm on London Road, Brentwood. The PCSO, a man in his 50s, had to be cut out by fire crews and was taken to Queens Hospital with “slight” injuries.
A police spokeswoman said: “All three emergency services went to London Road, Brentwood, following reports a of a suspected vehicle road traffic collision involving a police car.
“Officers attended to find the car on its roof and the driver, a PCSO, still inside. He was helped from the vehicle and attended by ambulance paramedics at the scene before being taken to Queens Hospital for treatment for what we believe to be slight injuries.
“Damage was also caused to the wall of a property.
“Inquires into the cause of the collision are continuing but at this time the driver is believed to have been taken ill at the vehicle.
“The road was partially blocked by the collision but fully reopened shortly after 1.10am.”
