A builder is in with a chance to win the Master Builder of the Year Awards after bagging the award for the best building apprentice in the Eastern Counties.

As a result of winning the regional award Ryan Naylor, of Brentwood, will now go up against the nation’s most promising tradespeople in a bid to be named Apprentice of the Year next month.

Competition was fierce, but Ryan, a carpentry apprentice who works for Brentwood Lofts, was chosen for his high standard of workmanship, professional attitude and dedication to his work.

Adding to the hype surrounding the awards ceremony, held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London on 18 February, is the participation of TV presenter and architecture enthusiast Charlie Luxton who will be presenting the awards to the winners.

Organised by the Federation of Master Builders, the Apprentice of the Year Award is a nationwide search for the pinnacle of the construction industry’s future talent, with a £1,000 top prize.

John Watson, FMB Service Director for the Eastern Counties said: “High standards of skill and craftsmanship are the traits that we look for when selecting the winner of the FMB’s Apprentice of the Year Award and Ryan is a prime example. We wish him the very best of luck at the national awards ceremony.”
