A HEADTEACHER has told the Weekly News how she believes her school will herald a new era for pupils across Essex with speech, language and communication difficulties.

Lisa Christodoulides told how Brentwood’s Grove House School was already attracting students from across the county, including Chelmsford, Colchester, Basildon and Harlow, and surrounding areas of Havering, Thurrock and Southend.

The Weekly News first revealed the school was coming to fruition in October last year.

Ms Christodoulides said: “Grove House School is set to transform the provision for pupils with speech, language and communication difficulties in Essex. We are poised for a very exciting opening in September.”

It will be the first specialist, language-focused school in Essex and is already attracting potential students from around the county.

The Grove House School, which will cater for pupils aged nine to 19, will be sited in Sawyers Hall Lane, in the old Sawyers Hall College buildings, and will have a playing field and spacious classrooms.

Ms Christodoulides has invited prospective parents and staff to tour the site on Wednesday at 10am and will also hold information sessions on May 5, at 7pm, and May 8, at 1pm.

She said: “These events are an opportunity to demonstrate to all interested parties the tremendous progress that is being made towards opening at Grove House School.

“We welcome visitors to take a look around during the site visit, and the team and I will be on hand to answer questions.

“Our information meetings will provide an even greater insight into the school’s tailored curriculum, specialist teaching methods and intensive therapeutic support.”
