A POLICE investigation has been launched after a scooter and a pedestrian collided on the A127 yesterday evening.

Three people were injured - two seriously - after a black Piaggio motorcycle and a pedestrian walking on the dual carriageway collided.

The crash happened at about 6.30pm on the Southend-bound carriageway in Brentwood.

The pedestrian, a man in his 20s from Pitsea, was driving a silver Honda Civic which had broken down on the London-bound carriageway.

He is thought to have crossed the road when he was involved in the collision with the scooter.

The scooter was being ridden by two men.

The pedestrian was taken to Queens Hospital in London by air ambulance where he remains this morning in a serious condition.

The scooter riders, aged in their 20s and 30s and from Romford, were also taken to Queens Hospital.

The man in his 30s has been discharged whilst the other remains in hospital in a serious condition.

Road traffic officers would like to speak to any witnesses to the collision, especially anyone one who noticed the rider and the passenger on the scooter.

Anyone that can help is asked to contact PC Daniel Corr or PC Dave Wheeler at Chigwell Road Policing Unit on 101.

The road was closed for several hours and reopened at shortly after 11.30pm last night.
