THE ORIGINAL Top Gear Stig has backed radio presenter Chris Evans in his new role as the show’s host.
Perry McCarthy, who lives in Mountnessing, said: “I'm a big Jeremy Clarkson fan and it's sad for the show that he has gone but the show is moving on.
"Jeremy has left really big shoes to fill but for me Chris is absolutely the right choice.
“He likes cars, is popular and most importantly is really creative.
"He will bring his own style to Top Gear and there will be people who really love that and people who really loved the old one but that's always the situation with change.
"I expect they will keep some elements of the old show and I remain hopeful they will still have a Stig as that's a character I feel very connected to."
