Organisers of the Brentwood based Nuclear Races, have helped to raise over £11,000 to support injured ex-service men and women to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Over 200 competitors took part in the ‘Blesma Wave’ at the Award Winning Nuclear Rush event on behalf of Blesma, the Limbless Veterans.

Competitors tackled around 50 obstacles, which included the ominously titled ‘Death Slide’, the ‘Ridge of Revenge’, and the world’s longest monkey bars.

The team at Nuclear Races made a generous £5 donation for every entry in the ‘Blesma Wave’, while participants were encouraged to fundraise to support injured veterans.

Laura Hyde, Community and Events Manager at Blesma, says: “We were delighted to be one of the chosen charities for this year’s Nuclear Rush event.

"It was a tough, but amazing experience for all involved, and the money raised will make a real difference to the lives of our veterans”

James Parrish, Race Director at Nuclear Races said, "We always thought Blesma was a great organisation.

"We were delighted so many of the Blesma team took part at Nuclear Rush and raised such a muddy awesome amount of money for their great cause.

"The Blesma team are great to work with & we're grateful for their support. Roll on next year!"

Blesma are recruiting people to take part in the ‘Blesma Wave’ at Nuclear Races next year, which takes place on the 14th May 2016 at 12:30.
