A HISTORIC Grade II listed bridge has been closed after it was hit by a vehicle.
Buttsbury Bridge, which spans the River Wid, near Ingatestone, was hit on Friday night.
Essex Police and highways officers closed the bridge on Stock Lane for safety reasons.
Essex County Council structural engineers are rebuilding the bridge’s parapets and expect the work to be completed by Saturday, 28 November.
A signed diversion route is directing motorists onto sections of the B1002, A12 and B1007 Stock Road.
