THE Brentwood Festival has announced its headliner will be Spandau Ballet’s lead singer Tony Hadley.

Tony Hadley rose to fame in the 1980s as the lead singer of the new wave band Spandau Ballet, achieving major success with international hits like “True”, “Gold” and “Through the Barricades”.

Hadley will be performing at the 2016 Brentwood Festival on Sunday, 17 July on the same bill as The Boomtown Rats and another 80’s band to be announced next week.

Coincidentally, Hadley and Spandau Ballet appeared at Live Aid in 1985, an international charity concert organized by The Boomtown Rat’s lead singer, Sir Bob Geldof.

A multi-talented entertainer, Hadley has performed in the West End, as well as radio, film, and television.

He may be a familiar face to viewers of “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here” where he finished in 6th place in 2015.

Brentwood Festival co-ordinator, Laurie Edmonds, said: “We are thrilled to have Tony Hadley on the line-up this year.

“He’s one of the artists our fans have been asking us to bring to the festival, so we’re pleased that it’s all come together for 2016.

"We know everyone’s going to love singing along to all the pop favourites like True and Gold.”

Early bird tickets will be on sale from 14-28 February.
