A new community project will officially open its doors today, providing probably the first drop-in colouring cafe in the UK.

Every Friday different members of the community meet up for a friendly chat, a hot drink, and a spot of relaxing colouring.

The project has been put together by the Brentwood Community Tree in an effort to provide Brentwood with a safe space where adults from all backgrounds can go and relax and, if they wish, make some new friends.

Sue Ereira, on behalf of Brentwood Theatre, said 'This project isn't about making a profit.

"In fact, you won't be obligated to buy anything at all.

"We have a beautiful colouring book made for us specifically, which we're very proud of, we will have many public / shared copies lying around which you can have fun with completely free, just please make sure to return them when you're finished.

"We understand some people will want their own copies, and you can have your own for only £5."

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own pens or pencils with them although felt tip pens will be available in the cafe to borrow or sets available to buy for £5.

Refreshments and snacks, from £1 per item, will also be on sale.

Sue added: "We are open from 11am to 2pm each Friday and many people are dropping in each week.

"We ran through January to try it out and now we all feel that we can officially open.

"There will be cakes and balloons to celebrate!

"Brentwood Theatre is proud to be at the heart of yet another fantastic community project.

"Audrey Clark from Brentwood Community Print has been a real inspiration over this and we are so pleased so many people are interested.'
