A MUM battling cancer is also fighting to bring smiles to people’s faces with a film of her dancing at Broomfield Hospital.

Susan Robinson, 50, from Chelmsford, has been treated at the hospital since she was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in January last year.

Despite facing two more years of gruelling treatment, the mum has remained positive and insists laughing and smiling is a medicine itself.

She has filmed the #DanceOff AgainstCancer video of herself, patients and staff at the hospital dancing to hit song Happy by Pharrell Williams to raise a smile and money for the Mid Essex Hospital Services Trust charitable fund at the same time.

Mum-of-four Susan, who is encouraging others to film and post their own videos online, said: “I’ve always had a little bit of a mad personality and I like to laugh. I’d always rather laugh than cry.

“Chemotherapy can be really scary, but when I’d drive there I would turn the radio up loud and laugh and sing along and get a real boost from it, so that’s what I’m trying to do here.

“The nurses at Broomfield are so lovely, they all took part in their spare time.

“I just want to give everyone a lift, to make them smile and raise some money at the same time.”

Her daughter Becky Priest, 28, added: "I just think she is amazing.

"She is quite a positive person, and even though she is still having treatment, she still wants to do something to help others smile.

"She is also still looking after her mum, who is 86 and lives with her, and is always looking after other people.

"Even though she has been so ill she is still trying to do good and I'm so so proud of her."
