A MAN was found unconscious and with a broken knee after a suspected hit and run in Billericay. 

A group of people discovered the 23-year-old on the floor in Mountnessing Road, Billericay at about midnight on Friday.

His injuries are consistent with being hit by a car. 

Police are urgently trying to trace the group and any other witnesses.  

Investigating officer, Sergeant Myles Hilbery, said: "The man was found lying injured in the road close to the junction with Radford Way by a group of people heading home.

"They helped him back to his house and the following morning he went to hospital to get his injuries seen to.

"Doctors believe his injuries, including a broken knee, are consistent with being hit by a car.

"I urgently need to trace the people who helped our injured man at the time and also went to speak to anyone else who either drove or walked along this road at the relevant time.”
