Tesco are inviting local community groups, schools and organisations to apply for their share of a £12million carrier bag charge fund.
The supermarket teamed up with community charity Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative, which sees grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to environmental and greenspace projects.
This is your chance to give projects from the Brentwood region a chance to benefit from the funding.
In the last round, successful projects across Essex ranged from creating new public bicycle ways and footpaths to establishing a community wildlife garden and restoring a school’s wildlife pond.
Now Groundwork is urging Brentwood groups to get their applications in for the current round of funding, which closes on 3 June.
As well as applying direct, suggestions for projects can also be nominated by people living in Brentwood.
All interested groups have to do is apply online at www.groundwork.org.uk/tescocommunityscheme or contact Victoria Rudd, Bags of Help Enabler, on victoria.rudd@groundwork.org.uk or 07736 132873 for more information.
