A DROP-IN session is being held in Chelmsford for anyone interested in volunteering for the Red Cross.

The New London Road centre hopes to find "compassionate, friendly people who might have a couple of hours to spare each week", to volunteer for one of its community services.

This would include emergency response roles, independant living roles, help with mobility equipment or event first aid and fundraising.

Lynne Hartley, senior people and learning manager for the Red Cross in Beds, Herts and Essex, said: “Our services are very valuable to the local community, and they each make a world of difference to people coping with very difficult times.

"Our volunteers are kind, dedicated people and we value them very highly. They often say they find the work extremely rewarding, interesting and worthwhile.”

“Some have found that volunteering has given them a lot more confidence, or helped them to find a new job or career path. Others say they really enjoy meeting and helping people, and using some of their time to give back.”

“I do hope Essex residents will be interested in finding out more about what we do, and how they can get involved.”
