RUBBISH adverts may be a sight of the future in Brentwood.
Local businesses may get the chance to advertise their services on the many Brentwood Council rubbish trucks serving the borough, after the council asked officers to look into the scheme.
The council intends to retain some lorry sides to continue advertising its reduce, reuse and recycle message.
Councillor Russell Quirk, chairman of the environment committee, said the money brought in from advertising would be spent directly on more care of the streets, particularly the borough's high streets.
He said: “This is an opportunity for business to advertise themselves to Brentwood on what are effectively giant, moving billboards.
“The cleanliness of our streets is one of our key priorities and this initiative allows us to focus further funding without cost to the taxpayer.”
There are around 22,000 homes in the borough and the trucks would also be seen by any nearby motorists on the road.
The initiative is expected to go the council's environment committee panel on September 10, where councillors will hear and vote on the proposal.
Anyone interested in the dump truck advertising has been urged to call Jonathon Phillips on 01277 312500.
