MP Eric gets out and about

BRENTWOOD’S MP has been busy meeting members of the community.

Eric Pickles, MP for Brentwood and Ongar, took time out of planning the Conservative Party Conference to visit a brewing company and a charity shop.

First stop was the British Heart Foundation shop, in the High Street.

Mr Pickles donated books and other items collected from his friends to help with the shop’s Big Donation campaign.

He said: “Charity shops give everyone a chance to recycle unwanted items.

“The best thing is the way charities like the British Heart Foundation raise money and awareness of heart disease and treatment in their shops.

“Just one bag of good quality cast-offs can be worth as much as £20 to the British Heart Foundation.”

His next stop was to the Brentwood Brewing Company, based in Coxtie Green Road, South Weald, where Mr Pickles helped celebrate the brewery’s new off-licence facility.

This allows Brentwood’s only brewing company to sell a range of its homemade beers direct to the public.

Mr Pickles said: “I have long been a supporter and am delighted it will now be able to sell its wares direct to the public.

“This is a great example of keeping trade local, and I would encourage all connoisseurs of beer to consider cutting their carbon footprint and buying their beverage direct from the brewer.”
