HUGE queues of traffic snaked across Essex following a six-car pile up on the A12.
Motorists reported congestion between Brentwood and Colchester, following the smash on the London-bound dual carriageway on Tuesday morning.
Police were called at about 6.30pm and had to close one lane of the road, near the A12’s junction with the M25 at Brentwood.
A Vauxhall Astra, a Citroen Dispatch, a BMW, a Mercedes van, a Ford Escort and a Ford Mondeo were involved.
Graham Bridge, 28, a claims handler, of Heybridge Road, Ingatestone, said he was stuck in traffic for at least an hour.
He said: “You could see everyone was getting really frustrated, because no one had a clue what was going on at first.”
Nobody was hurt and no arrests were made following the crash.
