School receives top marks

PUPILS and teachers were overjoyed after a boarding school became the first in Essex to be named outstanding.

The Brentwood School, in Ingrave Road, Brentwood, was awarded an outstanding grade, the highest possible, after Ofsted carried out an inspection at its boarding facilities last month.

Ofsted staff praised the relationship between pupils, their access to a range of activities, accommodation and the input students have over life at the boarding school.

Headteacher Ian Davies was delighted. He said: “The boarding staff at Brentwood School are absolutely committed to providing a first class boarding education and it is reassuring to know that we are going in the right direction.”
