POLICE are investigating a spate of number plate thefts around Brentwood.

Thieves stole front and rear plates from a black Renault Clio in William Hunter Way between 8am and 7pm on Thursday May 1.

The registration number is EO08 XNG.

A second theft occurred between 1am and 7.30pm on Sunday May 4 in Brook Street, when personalised front and rear plates reading H1 RGT were stolen from a blue Audi A6.

Plates were also taken from a blue Fiat Bravo in Mill Lane, Kelvedon Hatch overnight between Sunday May 4 and Monday May 5.

The index number is GF08 CKJ.

Stolen plates are often used by thieves making off from petrol stations without paying, and police at Brentwood are urging people to be vigilant.

Anyone who sees anything suspicious should telephone 01277 262212.
