PLANS for a landmark cinema development in the heart of Brentwood are close to being resubmitted, according to the company behind the scheme.
Stockland Halladale has been meeting regularly with Brentwood Council to finalise the design for a six-screen cinema, retail and residential complex on the site of the William Hunter Way car park.
Now the company say a revised application is expected to be put to the council "in the next few weeks."
Ken Lindsay, joint managing director of Halladale, said: "Over recent months we have been in consultation with the council to address their concerns, resulting in the redesign of the exterior of the proposed development.
"We are currently working on the detailed drawings and expect to submit a revised planning application in the next few weeks.
"We are keen to continue to work closely with the council and the local community over the coming months to deliver the benefits that the new shops, new homes and new cinema will bring to Brentwood."
A previous application was withdrawn by the developers last autumn after councillors and officers expressed concerns over the design, saying it was out of keeping with the rest of the town centre.
For the last six months, the council and Halladale, who designed the Baytree Centre, have been meeting to iron out the problems with the design.
