Highways tie up is working, says leader
THE new tie up between Brentwood and Essex Councils is already paying dividends, according to a top councillor.
Brentwood Council leader Brandon Lewis believes that the partnership between the two authorities on highways matters, launched last month, has meant progress already.
Two highways rangers have been driving around Brentwood undertaking repairs, maintenance and improvements to roads.
The Council has acted on correspondence from concerned residents asking them to deal with specific issues and has been able to do so.
The first meeting of the council's new highways panel will take place in June and will set out a programme of works to be undertaken over the coming months.
Mr Lewis said: "It's still early days, but the highways localism initiative is already achieving great things. Residents have told us their concerns and wishes for the future of our highways through the substantial consultation process. It is now up to us to make it happen."
