"Green machines" launched in Brentwood
TWO mechanised sweeper vehicles are cleaning the streets of Brentwood from this week.
The new "green machines" can collect up to one cubic metre of rubbish and use far less water than the old machines.
The vehicles can travel at speeds of up to 29 miles per hour and can be used in all weathers. They also have a fully enclosed cab for the driver.
The machines were launched this week by leader of Brentwood Council, Brandon Lewis, who said: "Brentwood is a beautiful, green place and we want to keep it that way.
"These green machines are just one of many initiatives we will be introducing to maintain the clean, green look of Brentwood and raise awareness of the importance of a pleasant environment in which to live and work."
