AFTER an absence of four years, the Jim Philpot Memorial Trophy is back in the silverware cabinet at Brentwood Bowling Club, this year’s winners of the annual derby competition with neighbours Kings Chase.

Brentwood were 12 shots up going into the second leg of the two-game contest when they secured victory by eight shots overall.

The four-rink game was reduced from 21 to 15 ends due to rain.

At a post-game lunch, players were welcomed by Kings Chase acting captain Rob Fleming who presented the trophy to Brentwood captain Richard Rose.

Rose said it was always a pleasure to visit Kings Chase – and it was an even greater pleasure to visit the club and win the trophy.

The competition has now been won eight times by Kings Chase and seven times by Brentwood. It was initiated as a tribute to Jim Philpot, who bowled at Brentwood and was also well known at the Kings Chase venue.
