BRENTWOOD 4 ASHFORD 0

BRENTWOOD Ladies 1s hosted Ashford for the first home game of the season keen to continue their winning start.

Brentwood pressed and finally made the first breakthrough when Charlotte Holt took a deflection in a crowded Ashford goalmouth to loop the ball into the net over the keeper’s head.

Brentwood soon extended their lead when a flowing move up the right hand side saw Shirley Osmotherly’s cross calmly deflected past the diving goalkeeper by forward Lisa Payne.

By half time, Brentwood were dominant and this continued into the second half.

Their third goal was a masterful solo effort from Lauren Slater, who picked the ball up in her own half, cut through the Ashford defence with ease and finishing with an unstoppable shot.

Player of the match Slater soon scored her second when she pounced on the rebound from her own initial shot to pass the ball into the corner of the goal past the despairing Ashford goalkeeper.

The Brentwood defence were solid throughout allowing Ashford very few opportunities.

Brentwood look forward to travelling to Wapping next weekend.
