BRENTWOOD TOWN 1 TILBURY 2 (RYMAN DIVISION ONE NORTH)

BRENTWOOD Town suffered defeat for the third game in a row as substitute Francis Babalola’s injury time strike sealed the three points for Tilbury.

Brentwood got off to a bright start and in-form frontman Dan Subuola could have put them ahead after five minutes but his close range effort was well saved and both Connor Okus and John Bradley failed to convert the rebound.

Tilbury goalkeeper Chico Ramos once again thwarted Subuola 15 minutes in having linked well with Okus.

Despite further chances for Brentwood, Ramos ensured the match remained goalless at the break.

Tilbury took the lead in the 47th minute when Danny Francis connected with Nathan Ashton’s cross to score from close range.

The Dockers looked for a second but Brentwood hit back and Williams equalised with a debut goal, turning the ball in at the front post after good work from substitute Jason Dobbs in the 67th minute.

Ramos once again stopped Subuola and Mtyanda volleyed just wide as Brentwood looked to turn the game around.

But there was nothing the hosts could do in the third minute of stoppage time when substitute Francis Babalola gathered the ball and found enough space to fire past Tim Pitman from eight yards, securing the win.

A cruel blow for Brentwood who were certainly not outplayed.

“We didn’t deserve to get beat there,” said Blues manager. “They’ve worked so hard and got nothing out of it.”

“When we got back to 1-1 our confidence came back and we were pressing them to get the next goal, but in the end they get the goal.”

Brentwood: Pitman, Love, Mbulu, Wilson, Dixon, Bradley, Mtyanda, Okus, Subuola, Williams (Gardner 79), Spurge (Dobbs 48).
