Seventeen points from their latest two matches ensured Selex A return back to the top of the premier division with a 12-point lead over second placed Billericay Sports A.

There were maximums from Chris Knight and Paul Sayer against Brentwood A, plus two wins from Jon Stokes, which carried them to an 8-2 home win against Paul Cuming, Kevin Worthington and Phil Purser.

An away 9-1 win at Billericay B for Selex A, with Jon Stokes and Chris Knight unbeaten and supported by Paul Stephens with two wins against John Webber, Neil Freeman and Paul Mulley keep them on track for yet another title. Billericay Sports C, with only two players in Chris Crooks and Les Hoey, were unable to halt the progress of Billericay Sports A of Keith Adams, Keith Phillips and Bruce Kettle who carried all before them with a 10-0 victory.

In the first division, a 6-4 home win over Hutton St Josephs and a 5-5 draw with only two players at Billericay C keep Kingswood in a sound position in this division. Against Hutton, St Josephs’ Peter Lucraft was unbeaten, Steve Appleby won twice and Olu Mokuolu, with one win, was sufficient to ensure victory.

For the visitors Mike Pratley claimed two wins, David Barnes one win and Roy Barnes was surprisingly pointless. Kingswood’s next match, away at Billericay C with only Sue Body and Steve Appleby on call, saw them take a 5-3 lead only to be pegged back by losing the final singles and the doubles to finish all square at 5-5.

Gareth Davies, with one win, Reece Seddon and Brian Farmer pointless, plus the three on forfeit, ensured the home side hung on for a draw.

In the second division, Bill Wall and Richard Hayhoe picked up all seven points for Hutton A in a 7-3 away win at Mountnessing C.

Ron Milbourn failed to score against Claire Abraham, Suzanne Shaw and Paul Singleton – always in contention at 4-3 until the final three ties, which went to the visitors. Hutton B were on the wrong end of a 10-0 hiding from visitors and leaders Mountnessing B with Lou Hopkins, Steve Murdoch and Norman Feakins always chasing points against Joan Donovan, John Newman and Peter Hardiman.

Only two ties were taken to five ends. Writtle B just share second place with Hutton A and away at Brentwood C they enjoyed a 7-3 away win with Francis Whitbread and Martin Goddard unbeaten and third player Wendy Hibbitt scoreless.
