BRENTWOOD Ladies lost for the first time this season in the top of the league clash at Holcombe. With the home team able to take advantage of their 1st XI not having a game to field a team of 16, Brentwood always knew it was going to be a tough game.

The match started off as a possession game with the ball being passed around the pitch with both teams trying to find a weakness to capitalise on.

However, the Brentwood midfield of Nat Gilder, Lauren Slater and Shirley Osmotherly more than held their own against a strong Holcombe side.

Holcombe were the first to score after they were awarded a penalty corner. After the initial injection was mis-controlled, Holcombe played the ball around the edge of the circle before finding their centre forward free in the circle to take the lead.

The Brentwood forwards took advantage of a quick turn over, and quick passing skills between Bev Simmons and Charlotte Holt gave the opportunity for Lizzie Tyler to slip the ball past the diving Holcombe keeper to level the score.

In the second half, the home team started applying much more pressure. The deadlock was finally broken by the home team when a long corner pass looped high into the circle and through the legs of Parsons into the goal.
