Racer Mann trains at Snetterton

BRENTWOOD female-racer Tania Mann returned to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Norfolk’s Snetterton track last weekend, after an enforced temporary break from the Championship.
She partook in testing at the track the week before the event, which she found extremely useful.
She said: “It went incredibly well and it was wonderful to be back out in my cup car.
“Considering I'd not been in the car for over 2 months I was really pleased to build up to a great time around the circuit.
“My driving technique is constantly improving as I learn more and more about the car so it’s always extremely rewarding.
“And of course I'm doing what I love so I enjoy every minute of it.”
This useful exercise eased her back into Porsche racing action and gave her something to build on.
Of her return she said: “It’s fantastic to be back! But even better to have some great results during qualifying and come away with two podiums by coming third in both races.
“The Snetterton 300 circuit has some extremely technical corners so I learned a tremendous amount and will certainly be able to transfer this knowledge to other circuits in my cup car.”
Unfortunately it does not appear this experience will be transferred to the next round at Knockhill in Scotland in a week’s time due to an ongoing struggle for budget, a problem that faces many racing drivers.
Of the situation she says: “I’m sad to say that at this stage I won’t be competing at Knockhill.
“I do hope I can secure a bit more budget to get me on the grid for the rest of the season, as I would hate to throw away the wonderful opportunity I have to win the championship this year in my ProAm2 class.”
Any business that might be tempted to help out a local budding racing star in exchange for advertising would certainly be welcomed by Tania and her team as she explains there’s a real scope for business for any sponsors involved.
She explained: “I would be delighted to talk to anyone interested to provide more information. The Porsche Carrera Cup GB is the most prestigious single make series in the UK.
"It features live on ITV4 and has over 14 million viewers so is a wonderful series to be involved with.”
