TENNIS ace Levi Lowe-Lennon hit the headlines when a TV news crew paid court to him at Brentwood School.

Fifteen-year-old Levi was filmed by Channel 4 News as part of a feature on up-and-coming tennis players in the light of recent British tennis success.

Levi, who has been playing since he was nine, said he was inspired to take up the sport after watching Wimbledon and now aims to be the best player in the world.

He said: “I believe if you put in the hard work and make sacrifices you can achieve anything in life. It makes me happy being on the court and when you win it is even better.”

Levi’s story appeared on Channel 4 News last Tuesday when his mother, Dawn Lennon, appealed for a sponsor to back her talented son. She explained how the cost of travel to tournaments and coaching was proving prohibitive.

Levi, who is in the fifth year at Brentwood School, said he was inspired by the success of Andy Murray and Heather Watson and all his pocket money is spent on tennis.

Heather Watson’s recent victory in Japan ended British tennis’s 24-year wait for a WTA Tour singles title.

Her success was hot on the heels of Andy Murray becoming the US Open champion and winning Olympic gold in the singles and silver in the mixed doubles with Laura Robson.
