TABLE TENNIS: Despite their huge handicaps Selex A made short work of their match against Billericay C – Jon Stokes (-16), Paul Sayer (-23) and Chris Knight (-24) were too strong for Stan Dyson (-7), Adrian Atkinson (-5) and Charles Yeung (+6) taking the match 5 - 1.

Charles Yeung picked up the visitors solitary win by defeating Jon Stokes in three ends. Glenn Johnson (-17), Keith Ashton (-11) and Lin Attridge (-9) of Billericay Sports B got the better of a Hutton A team, Richard Hayhoe (-1), Mike Newman (+1) and Wally Sale (+4).

Sale took Johnson to a third end for Hutton’s only success, Johnson conceding 21 points to start. John Webber (-11), Neil Freeman (-10) and Ray Eldridge (-8) of Billericay B were unable to contain the Mountnessing A player Dave Finlayson (-4) who was unbeaten in three played.

He was supported by Steve Nicholls (-10) who won two from three played while Gordon Gatheral (-10) was unable to score from two ties played.

Billericay D found their visitors Buttsbury A in good form and decently handicapped, but were unable to claim any more than two ties – Keith Cullen (-1) lost in three to Gary Carr (-3) in the first singles folowed by Jon Fieldsend (-6) losing to Paul Sturton (-8) in the second tie.

Buttsbury went three ahead with Sue Hickman (-5) beating Gareth Davies (-6). Jon Fieldsend pulled one back with a win over Gary Carr, but Sue Hickman won two of the next three ties (Gareth Davies beat Paul Sturton in between) to remain unbeaten and take her team into the semi final.
