Three away wins and a draw were the results for the Premier Division with initially Selex B leading the way with an 8-2 away win at Billericay Sports C.

Gary Hartgrove and Colin Clements were unbeaten for the visitors with Trevor Ward (one win) losing to Joe Williams and Chris Crooks. Pat White was scoreless.

Selex B then entertained second placed Billericay Sports A and gave a debut to Ben Warner. He picked up two wins, while Garry Hartgrove and Colin Clements were unable to score.

Keith Adams was unbeaten but needed to recover from a 7-10 deficit in the first to take it 13/11 against Warner before winning the next two.

The game of the night saw Hartgrove go 2-1 up against Keith Phillips but eventually losing 9/11 in the fifth end. The final score was 8-2 to Sports A – with Phillips and third player Chris Jacob scoring two wins each.

Billericay B had Steve Muth to thank for a maximum and Neil Freeman adding two wins and the pair then combining to take the doubles in a 6-4 win over Buttsbury A. Third player Ray Eldridge was scoreless against Paul Sturton (two wins) Sue Hickman and Gary Carr, with a win each.

With only two players, Brentwood A were always chasing points against Billericay Sports C but had Kevin Worthington unbeaten and Phil Purser winning twice in a respectable draw against Joe Williams (two points), Chris Crooks and Pat White with a point each in a 5 – 5 draw.

A top away performance from Brentwood B player Bob Garson in their match with table toppers Writtle A beating Steve Buer in five ends, Matthew Brown in four and Frank Neill.

Mary Nicholls collected a win over Neill but the visitors’ third man Colin Griffiths was pointless against Buer and Matthews with two each and Neill with one.

The doubles victory for Writtle in five ensured they picked up a 6-4 home win.

Brentwood Hard gained a welcome 7-3 home win at the expense of Billericay Sports D. No one player was dominant with Greg Cooper and Nick Wright losing to Dave Kirston but winning their other two ties against John Darling (one win) and Brian Wellman.

Pater Childs lost to Darling in a 7-3 home win for Brentwood Hard.

A 7-3 home win was gained by Billericay D over Brentwood Hard with Gareth Davies, Keith Cullen and Alan Wood all scoring twice but unable to get the better of Greg Cooper who was undefeated. John Barns was scoreless for the visitors.

Writtle A maintained their impressive run with an 8-2 home win over Kingswood. Chris Buer and Steve Buer were both undefeated while Brian Cook picked up one win over Steve Appleby but lost to Sue Body and Appleby – Peter Lucraft was the visitors third player.

Hutton St Josephs and Brentwood B fought out a 5-5 draw with Mike Pratley coming out on top and undefeated against Bob Garson, Brian Steward and Colin Griffiths.

David Barnes gained a singles win and then collected another in a doubles victory. Ron Grief was the home team’s third man.
