Anonymous bidder bags Bond's Lotus

The Lotus sports car which Roger Moore drove in Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me has fetched £111,500 at auction.

The 1976 Esprit Coupe was sold by Bonhams to a private US collector who was bidding over the telephone against a number of people in the sale room.

The anonymous winner described himself as both a Lotus and James Bond aficionado and said the car would be sent to Atlanta, Georgia.

A Bonhams spokesman said: "We are delighted with the result and delighted that it attracted worldwide attention."

The price included buyers' premium.
