BRENTWOOD LADIES 1 TOTTENHAM LADIES 4 CAPTAIN Carla Rose gave Brentwood Town the lead against Tottenham Hotspur, but three late goals ultimately saw Blues bow out of the FA Women’s Cup.

Town kept pace with the South East Women’s Combination outfit for the majority of the match before a cruel conclusion.

Both sides had lost just one match this season and Kelly Walker gave her team-mates encouragement with the first meaningful attempt on goal three minutes in when a skidding effort was collected by Spurs goalkeeper Ebony Cabey-Gooden.

Goalkeeper Izzy Vian twice pushed away goalbound attempts from distance, while at the other end Nikita Whinnett and Bryony Lynch were within millimetres of converting crosses.

Whinnett went close again in the 27th minutes, smashing the ball into the side-netting after Rose had put her through on goal, but Brentwood gained a richly-deserved lead seven minutes later.

Walker produced a superb through-ball for Rose to latch on to and the forward used all her experience to caress the ball inside the left-hand post.

This lasted just three minutes before Emma Kayser levelled the scores.

The midfielder collected a pass 25 yards out and drove the ball like a bullet into the top right-hand corner of the net.

Vian had to be at her best to turn substitute Eleni Savva’s low effort around the post within 30 seconds of the restart and she then claimed Kayser’s goalbound attempt at her toecaps.

The Blues back-line continued to repel any Spurs forays forward until their hearts were broken in the 80th minute as Baptiste received the ball on the right-hand side and slammed a rising shot into the roof of the net.

Two minutes from the end it was 3-1 as a corner was collected by Kirsty Thomson at the near post, and she squeezed the ball home.

In injury-time, Webb raced on to Kayser’s through-ball and hit a deflected shot past Vian.
